Did you know that you can make wonderful soft animals out of felt? These crafts are pleasant to the touch and very funny. We suggest you master sewing from felt fabric using the example of making a lamb.

How to make a lamb out of felt - a master class

To work, you will need felt of three colors: white, light and dark brown, as well as threads of the corresponding shades. Prepare the necessary materials, and then take care of the pattern. Its template involves cutting out the following elements from paper or cardboard: head, “hairstyle”, ears, torso, hooves, nose and tail of a lamb. The size of the parts depends on the desired dimensions of the future felt toy.

Performance:

  1. So, we cut out the listed templates for the lamb from felt: there should be 4 parts for the ears, and 2 for everything else, and only 1 part is needed for the spout.
  2. Using a pattern, draw the outlines of these elements on the fabric and carefully cut them out. One of the main advantages of felt over other types of fabrics is that it doesn't flake. That is why felt toys are so easy to sew.
  3. Let's start with the design of the lamb's head. First sew a spout to it (this will require only 2-3 stitches), and then embroider a smiling mouth. In principle, if desired, you can also embroider the nose with threads.
  4. Put a little filler inside the head (it can be a holofiber or synthetic winterizer) and sew the part to the end. Please note that felt toys are sewn on the front side, which means that all knots will be visible. Therefore, place the beginning and end of the seam where they will then be closed by other parts.
  5. Now you need to connect the head with the ears. Sew them carefully at the intersections, as shown in the photo. Seams should be at the back. At this stage, you can decorate the lamb with a ribbon bow and a miniature bell.
  6. Let's start making the body. Prepare two identical pieces of white felt.
  7. Sew them together with the same overcast stitch using white thread.
  8. Sew brown felt hooves to the bottom of the legs.
  9. Now it's time to connect the finished parts of the product. Sew the lamb's head onto the body, threading the needle through.

What is felt?

Felt- (from the French feutre - felt), a material obtained by felting down (fine hair) of a rabbit, a hare, waste fur from valuable breeds of fur animals, as well as sheep's wool. Felt (noble felt) is a non-woven material that can be treated like a fabric (cut, stitched) and like paper (glued). In addition, the felt does not have a face and a wrong side; when cutting out details, a fringe does not form along the edge.
Safety precautions when working with scissors:
Keep the scissors in their case and out of the reach of children.
Do not leave scissor blades open while working.
Pass the scissors with closed blades rings forward.
Safety precautions when working with needles, pins:
Perform work using a thimble.
Keep needles and pins in a certain place (special box, pillow, etc.), do not leave them at the workplace, in no case take needles, pins in your mouth and do not pin them on clothes.
Do not use a rusty needle for sewing.
Attach the patterns to the fabric with the sharp ends of the pins in the direction away from you.
Store scissors in a case, after finishing work, put them in a place inaccessible to small children.
Pieces of broken needles or pins are collected and put away in a certain place, and then disposed of.

Stages of work:

Children's theater- finger, implies familiarity with fiction, the basics of stagecraft, plastics and much more. All this contributes to the expansion of horizons, enrichment of the child's speech, the development of emotionality, sociability, curiosity, awakening interest in creativity. And if you decide to make a finger theater with your own hands with your child, then to all this you can add such qualities as love for work, development of perseverance and concentration of attention.
For my MK, I used thin felt.
In order to sew such a wonderful sheep, you need a template (shown on a sheet in a cage, A5 size).

You won't hear a word
You are from a little sheep.
For any question you
Only stubbornly says: "Be-e-e"

1. We take a template, cut out the details of a lamb, two parts of the body, muzzles, bangs (ears - 4 parts, tail - one part).

2. Then connect between two parts of the head - "loop seam",
bangs - "oblique overcasting stitches",
two pairs of ears - "basting seam",

3. We make a muzzle: outline the nose, eyes;

4. For the eyes, I took black beads, sew on the “eyes” and nose (from scraps);

5. We have a muzzle, ears, bangs ready!

We take the front part of the body and place the finished parts on it;

6. We attach them to the main part,

We decorate the sheep - we sew a bell on her neck! (this is an ornament from old shoes - do not throw anything away!)

7. We take the second back of the body, we outline the place where the tail will be;

8. Attach the tail to the back of the torso!

9. Next, carefully put the front part on the back, connecting the edges (I remind you that both parts of the body are ready to be connected), and cut off with needles;

10. We connect the details of the body with oblique stitches (from the left leg along the circumference of the body to the right leg, leaving a hole)

The symbol of 2015 is the cutest animal - a sheep. Handmade souvenirs and toys carry the warmth and love of their creator. New Year is a great occasion to make felt toys and give a symbol of the year instead of a traditional fridge magnet.

A handmade New Year's sheep made of felt can be used as a small addition to the main gift, as a key ring or decoration for the Christmas tree.

Materials for making sheep from felt

Sheep from felt pattern:

First you need to print the pattern. For a small souvenir toy, A5 format is enough.

Pattern sheep from felt

Cut out the details of the sheep from felt:

From white felt:

  • 2 parts torso;
  • 2 parts forelock;
  • 2 parts ponytail.

From cream felt:

  • 2 parts head;
  • 4 ear pieces.

From dark brown felt:

  • 1 piece spout;
  • 2 parts hoof.
Carved details of a lamb
sheep face

Embroider the sheep's face. First, sew on two dark beads. We make eyelashes on request. Without tearing off the thread, sew on a dark brown nose with three stitches in the corners. We embroider the mouth and fasten the thread from the inside.

We sew the details of the face, without sewing the top, we fill it with a little padding polyester.

We overcast the details of the ears. Ears do not need to be stuffed with padding polyester.

We sew the details of the forelock, but we do not do it to the end. So, then to insert the ears and face. We fill the lamb's forelock with a padding polyester a little, insert the ears and face, and continue to sew the details.

We collect the head of a lamb from felt

The head of our symbol of 2015 is ready. Sew it to one of the parts of the body.

Connecting the head and body

We sew a tail for our felt toy. It can be stuffed with a padding polyester a little. After the tail is ready, sew it to another part of the sheep's body.

Tail

The next step is sewing on the hooves. Now the front and back of our gift is ready.

Sewn on hooves

Our felt sheep is almost ready, it remains only to sew two parts and fill them with padding polyester.

Leaving a small hole, stuff the lamb with padding polyester.

It remains only to decorate our souvenir.

Here's what happened.

Preparing decoration for our gift

Take the ribbon and fold it into a bow. Sew a bell in the middle of the bow. We sew (you can glue with glue) a bow. We cut off the extra tips and melt them with a lighter so that they do not bloom.

Future decoration Front view Back view

If you want to use this souvenir as a Christmas decoration, then it is enough to sew a ribbon or make a loop on the finished product during the sewing process. New Year's sheep made of felt is ready!

Symbol of the New Year 2015 from felt

Felt sheep

For a long time I was looking for crafts for the kindergarten, I decided to make a felt sheep for the Christmas tree. It turned out quite quickly and economically))

This is what happened to me:

Details under the cut

I'll copy the tutorial here:

We redraw the sheep pattern from felt on a sheet of paper, attaching it to the computer screen (the size is pre-adjusted in MSWord).

For ease of use, copy the pattern onto thin cardboard, cut out the details clearly along the contour.

We cut out the body and the forelock from white felt - 2 parts each. From flesh-colored felt, 2 parts of the head and 2 ears, on red material we draw hearts - 2 small and 1 large.

We cut out the details very carefully, it is desirable that the entire outline drawn by the pen remains on the scraps. The toy will not turn inside out after stitching, so the absence of paste marks plays a big role.

By the way, if you intend to decorate the Christmas tree in an original way this year, then a do-it-yourself snowflake for the New Year will be an excellent company for our sheep toy.

First of all, we sew the trim: we fasten a large heart with decorative stitches to the ass, small hearts to the ears.

On one of the parts of the head with a black thread we make 3 stitches imitating the muzzle of a sheep made of felt.

We apply evenly 2 parts of the body to each other and sew with a buttonhole seam, starting approximately from the middle.

Without sewing the seam to the end and without breaking the thread, we begin to fill the body with a pre-fluffed padding polyester. It is convenient to distribute the stuffing evenly over the entire figure with the tips of scissors or a stick.

We insert a ribbon between the details so that the sheep made of felt on the Christmas tree can be conveniently hung, and we sew up the hole left for stuffing to the end.

In the same way we sew and stuff the head and forelock.

We sew ears and a forelock to the head.

We sew the head with a hidden seam in the middle of the body.

Glue the eyes with super glue. It is advisable to apply the glue with a toothpick so that the excess does not flow out from under the eye and does not spoil the muzzle.

We lay the ends of the cord with a bell one behind the other and sew to the body.

To make the sheep look more festive and elegant, you can glue small rhinestones on the hearts.

And paint on the cheeks with blush or dry pastel.

Everything, a do-it-yourself sheep made of felt is ready to take pride of place on the New Year tree.

Many thanks to the author for the most detailed MK !!!
